Rescue dogs take part in the “K9 For A Day” program

The program helps animals meet community members and find a home forever.

Protection dogs in the Volusia district were allowed to ride with the police on Wednesday.

This was part of the New Smyrna Beach Police Department’s “K-9 For A Day” program.

The officials reportedly partnered with the New Smyrna Beach Humane Society. They hope to help the guard dogs find a home forever as the ride along will help the community members meet the dogs.

“If we can help them and adopt our animals out here forever, that would be great,” said one official.

The police plan to come along every week.
